Each year in October, Carroll Hospital Center hosts the Pink Fling Luncheon, an inspirational afternoon in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This event includes a keynote presentation, lunch and silent auction.
This year’s keynote speaker is Madhulika Sikka, an award-winning veteran broadcast journalist and the executive editor for NPR News, overseeing coverage listened to by 26 million people each week.
Diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, Sikka found there were no books on the market that spoke with honesty and, frankly, a bit of attitude to women. To fill that need she wrote A Breast Cancer Alphabet, a pithy, witty and deeply informative A-to-Z guide to living with breast cancer. In it, Sikka offers a new way to live with and plan past the hardest diagnosis that most women will ever receive. It’s a personal, practical, and deeply informative look at the road from diagnosis to treatment and beyond.
So ladies, bring your friends, mother and sisters for a "pink" afternoon to help support the cancer services at Carroll Hospital Center.

The 2013 Pink Fling, held on October 27 at The Portico at St. John, raised $32,000 for The WISH Fund to benefit the Center for Breast Health. Guests enjoyed a wonderful afternoon that included lunch, motivational words from guest speakers and a silent auction. The keynote speaker was Baltimore native Joe Mechlinski, a community advocate, speaker, entrepreneur and author of the hit book "Grow Regardless."
