FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (April 4, 2018) — Mark Goldstein, M.D., emergency medicine, was named Carroll Hospital’s 2018 Physician of the Year and Kim Baker, P.A.-C., the inaugural Advanced Practice Provider of the Year during the hospital’s annual Doctor’s Day celebration held on March 27 in the East Pavilion at Carroll Hospital.

Affiliated with the hospital for close to six years, Dr. Goldstein, interim chief of emergency medicine, received the award for his compassion, attentiveness and exceptional care of patients in the Emergency Department.
“Dr. Goldstein exemplifies compassionate care, making sure that patients’ needs are first and foremost. His dedication to his patients makes him a role model and truly deserving of this award,” said Leslie Simmons, president of Carroll Hospital and executive vice president of LifeBridge Health, as she announced him the winner.

“I am incredibly grateful to Carroll Hospital for bestowing me with this honor,” said Dr. Goldstein.  “Carroll Hospital is an organization that has grown with our community yet still prioritizes the individual connections that help patients and families heal.  I am proud to be a part of this team.”

Kim Baker, director of adult hospitalists and ICU services, has been affiliated with the hospital for eight years. She was awarded for her tireless work in providing quality patient care. Advanced practice providers include physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and nurse anesthetists.

“Kim sits on a number of committees to enhance our quality of care. She is the first advanced practice provider to be in charge of an entire service at the hospital and at the same time efficiently balances the care of multiple patients,” said Simmons.
“I am truly grateful to the administration at Carroll for providing me with such amazing opportunities and for encouraging and supporting me in my growth,” said Baker. “I am honored to receive this award and hope that I can continue to pave the way for professional excellence as a physician assistant.”

The 2018 Physician of the Year and Advanced Practice Provider of the Year were selected from Physician and Provider of the Month winners from March 2017 through February 2018.
