FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (December 18, 2012) — Carroll Hospital Center recently received the Practice Excellence Award from McKesson during the McKesson Innovation Experience event held in Dallas, Tex.

Pat Blake, executive vice president and group president of McKesson Technology Solutions, presented the award to Gail McHugh, director of information systems physician enterprise at Carroll Hospital Center.

The prestigious award was given to recognize members of Carroll Hospital Center’s Physician Enterprise Information Technology (IT) team for their outstanding work in implementing and enhancing the performance of McKesson’s Practice Partner®, a certified electronic health record (EHR) system, at Carroll Health Group, the primary and specialty care physician practices affiliated with Carroll Hospital Center.

When faced with challenges while first implementing the system, the IT team went over and above their normal duties to improve the software through education, McKesson support and utilizing other resources in order to make it more user-friendly and efficient for Carroll Health Group staff.

“We are very proud of our Physician Enterprise IT team,” said Kim Moreau, assistant vice president of information systems at Carroll Hospital Center.  “Their dedication and hard work did more than just assist our Carroll Health Group staff, it helped ensure we would continue to improve the quality of health care for patients and patient safety through the meaningful use of our health care information technology.

Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
