Westminster, Md. (February 25, 2014) — For the fifth consecutive year, Carroll Hospital Center has been named a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association (AHA). The designation recognizes the hospital for creating a healthy workplace and culture of physical activity through its many programs and initiatives.
The AHA’s Fit-Friendly Worksites program is an initiative designed to encourage employers to make their employees’ health and wellness a priority through physical activity and healthy eating options.
Carroll Hospital Center offers employees a range of opportunities to improve their health and well-being in the workplace. This includes activities offered through the hospital’s wellness incentive program, healthy eating options on its campus, blood pressure and wellness screenings, and a range of programs available through the hospital’s Integrative Health department.
“We are extremely proud and excited to receive this honor from the AHA,” said Leslie Simmons, R.N., F.A.C.H.E., Carroll Hospital Center president. “We are committed to being a healthy workplace, which is why providing our staff with the programs and services to increase their physical activity and wellness is a major priority.”
As a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite, the hospital is among an elite group of awardees that will be recognized on the AHA’s website, at AHA local events and be able to use the AHA’s Fit-Friendly Worksites Platinum seal on internal and external communications.
Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
