FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (June 13, 2013) — Carroll Hospital Center’s Diabetes Self-Management Education Program, part of the hospital’s Diabetes Center, was recently awarded an Education Recognition Certificate from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The certificate recognizes the program’s excellence and ability to offer patients high-quality education and care that meets national standards, which is essential to effective diabetes treatment.

To achieve this recognition the program was evaluated and found to have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management.

“The process gives professionals a national standard by which to measure the quality of services they provide,” Susan Steinweg, R.N., B.S.N., C.D.E., program coordinator at The Diabetes Center, said. “And it assures the consumer that he or she will receive high-quality service.”

Education recognition status is verified by an official certificate from the ADA and awarded for four years.

Founded in 1940, the ADA is the nation’s leading non-profit health organization supporting diabetes research, advocacy and information for health professionals, patients and the public.

Carroll Hospital Center’s Diabetes Center provides excellence in diabetes care.  Located in the hospital’s Outpatient Center, the center is staffed by a medical director, board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, as well as, a registered nurse and registered dietitians who are certified diabetes educators with advanced training to help people learn to manage their diabetes and enjoy healthier, more active lifestyles.
