Kevin Smothers, M.D., Chief Medical Officer
and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs

Dr. Smothers is the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Carroll Hospital Center. He is the primary liaison between the medical staff, clinical leadership and administrative team to improve customer service and clinical quality and patient safety.
 
Dr. Smothers was the Medical Director of the Medicine Service Line at Franklin Square Hospital Center a large, teaching-community hospital in Baltimore. There he was responsible for strategic and operational planning for all emergency and inpatient adult medical care and supervised many quality and safety initiatives at Franklin.
 
He earned his undergraduate degree at Brown University and medical degree at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine training at University of California, San Francisco Mt. Zion Health Medical Center and is board certified in internal medicine. He was a former Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine at New York University Bellevue Medical Centers in New York, N.Y. and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut. He is an active member of many professional and community organizations and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
