When every second counts, you can count on Carroll Hospital Center’s advanced emergency services
. Each year, our emergency department (ED) medical professionals provide expert care to more than 50,000 patients. They use the most advanced lifesaving technology available in our comfortable, spacious facility.
In national patient satisfaction surveys, our ED consistently ranks high. That’s because we’ve made it our mission to provide skilled, compassionate care in the most efficient way possible — from the moment you arrive to discharge. And, our new Hourly Rounding program, where our technologist and nursing staff check on you and communicate with you on an hourly basis, will help to ensure you’re always informed.
In our ED, you’ll be treated by a comprehensive group of emergency medicine specialists, including board certified emergency physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses, support staff and others. All of our nurses have Advanced Cardiac Life Support training (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) training.
Our Emergency Facilities
Created to ensure comfort, privacy and efficient care
When you arrive at our ED, a greeter will send you to an intake area that can accomodate several patients at once. In this area, a member of our intake team (a physician, physician assistant or nurse) will determine where you need to go for treatment. In some cases, tests or treatment may begin right in the intake area. If the problem is severe, you may be sent immediately to a treatment room to be seen by a provider.
The unique features of our spacious facility includes:
- More than 30,000 square feet of comfortable space
- Our ED lobby offers soothing colors, natural light and ample seating
- More than 40 private treatment rooms with space for family members when appropriate
- State-of-the-art monitoring equipment
- Bedside registration
- An electronic tracking system that monitors your care through the ED
- Multiple nursing stations that put caregivers closer to you and your family
- A diagnostic imaging suite for digital X-ray, CT scan and ultrasound
Our Specialized Emergency Services
Our ED team works together to diagnose, manage and treat a full range of acute and critical illnesses and injuries — from heart attack and stroke, to lacerations and sprains. One of the best features of our ED is the many specialized treatment areas that ensure you get the care you need. A member of our intake team (a physician, physician assistant or nurse) will evaluate you shortly after arrival to determine which services are most appropriate. Our specialized emergency services include:
For those with more minor emergencies, such as sprains, lacerations or simple fractures, Carroll Hospital Center offers Emergent Care (EMC) to provide streamlined services and reduced wait time while still ensuring a state-of-the-art facility, advanced technology and an outstanding medical team.
Whether you are treated in our main ED or in EMC, our ED representatives serve as a liaison to keep your family and friends posted on your progress, because we know that five minutes can seem like an hour when you’re waiting.
Remember, the ED is not a substitute for routine medical care and regular visits to your primary care provider.
