Orthopaedic Treatment Options

Once you are diagnosed, the next step is treatment. Carroll Hospital Center’s orthopaedic services offer advanced treatments for many common orthopaedic conditions:

  • Joint pain and deterioration
Age, injury or disease may cause painful joint deterioration in the hips, knees, shoulders, ankles, fingers or elbows. The joint replacement specialists at Carroll Hospital Center provide the latest treatments designed to restore mobility and relieve pain. If surgery is recommended, we offer several minimally invasive techniques and innovative devices, such as the Uni-Knee and metal-on-metal hip.
  • Spine and neck concerns
Back and neck pain sends people to the doctor almost as frequently as the common cold. Working closely with specialists at our Advanced Pain Management Center, we provide comprehensive assessments of back and neck concerns. For some spine conditions, we may perform kyphoplasty, a minimally invasive technique that uses a medical cement to repair spinal fractures caused by conditions that soften the bone, like osteoporosis. We also perform surgical removals of herniated or damaged discs.
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritic thumb
Carpal tunnel syndrome sets in when the nerve running from the forearm into the hand is pressed or squeezed at the wrist, causing pain, weakness or numbness that travels up the arm. For those suffering from this painful condition, our orthopaedic specialists offer the latest techniques and devices. Using state-of-the-art instruments and cameras to see inside the joints, we can alleviate the nerve compression responsible for carpal tunnel syndrome. In cases of arthritic thumb, our outstanding team includes the only orthopaedic surgeon in Maryland practicing a unique variation of arthroscopic thumb joint reconstruction.

  • Sports-related injuries
From the professional athlete to the weekend warrior, no one is immune from sports injuries. Our sports medicine specialists see athletes at every level, helping them get back into the game as quickly as possible and regain—or surpass—previous performance levels. Using leading-edge arthroscopic techniques, we treat minor and major sports-related conditions, including torn ligaments in the knee (anterior cruciate) and tendon injuries in the shoulder area (rotator cuff).
