While using the medical services offered at Carroll Hospital Center's Advanced Pain Management Center, your care will be directed by a physician board-certified in pain management and anesthesiology. In addition, a nurse practitioner experienced in pain management will assist in facilitating your care. The collaboration of other specialists in rehabilitation medicine, behavioral health and neurology also may be incorporated into your care plan.

This dedicated team works together to effectively and efficiently provide quality pain care services, working in conjunction with your personal physician. Vajira Gunawardane, M.D.— The Advanced Pain Management Center is under the direction of Vajira Gunawardane, M.D., a physician who is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain management. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York City. and his fellowship in pain management at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Hugo Torres, M.D.— Dr. Torres is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in pain management. He was an anesthesiology resident and chief resident at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, where he was also fellowship trained in pain management.
