Yousuf Gaffar, M.D., named Carroll Hospital Center July Physician of the Month

Westminster, Md. – (July 1, 2010) — Yousuf Gaffar, M.D., hematology/oncology, was recently chosen as Carroll Hospital Center’s July Physician of the Month. This marks the second time Dr. Gaffar has received this special award. A physician affiliated with Carroll Hospital Center for four years, Dr. Gaffar was nominated for his exceptional care of a patient and for his compassion and sensitivity toward the patient and his family.
“Dr. Gaffar’s dedication to Carroll Hospital Center and his patients is above and beyond the expectation of any physician and thus makes him deserving of this fine recognition,” Kevin Smothers, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs at Carroll Hospital Center, said.
Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary patient care achievements of physicians, as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified nurse anesthetists, with a program called Physician WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive Physician WOW Service Awards each month, one Physician of the Month is chosen. And, from a year’s worth of Physician of the Month winners, one Physician of the Year is selected.
Community members and hospital associates are encouraged to nominate a medical professional who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to patients in a variety of ways.
