Letter from the Clinical Coordinator

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to The Women’s Place. Since 1999, we’ve distinguished ourselves as one of the hospital’s premier programs, offering a unique mix of clinical services, educational resources, complementary health services and medical screenings specifically developed with a woman’s needs in mind.

Our comprehensive approach is what makes The Women’s Place so special. We strive to care for the whole woman—body, mind and spirit. And we think today’s stressful, busy lifestyles demand this philosophy of care.

It’s no secret that women juggle multiple roles simultaneously as mothers, daughters, professionals, students, wives and community volunteers. We recognize that you have little time to think about your health, much less do something about it. That’s why we’re here—to make it easy to take care of yourself.

The Women’s Place provides the perfect escape—whether you’re taking a yoga class, enjoying a massage, browsing our library of resources or attending an educational program. Our comfortable, pleasing environment is quiet and peaceful—not at all hospital-like—yet we are part of the hospital and can draw on its expertise and credentials. This connection is important to us and the people we serve.

We’ve thoughtfully assembled a wide array of services to provide the highest quality care and cover a woman’s needs throughout her lifespan. Our skilled massage therapists offer traditional massage, as well as specialty massage for women who are pregnant and those who have hadcancer or mastectomies. Our yoga instructors also teach special classes for pregnant women. And our popular hair removal treatment is performedby physicians or physician assistants.

One of our signature programs—and one I hold dear to my heart—is our Breast Center, which helps women navigate the challenging journey of a breast cancer diagnosis, from testing to recovery. Our patients tell us it is reassuring to receive the specialized care and support they need right here in Carroll County.

And although The Women’s Place was designed for the women in our community, our services are available to everyone. Many men do receive services here on a regular basis and are welcome to take advantage of our resources and programs.

If you’re a regular at The Women’s Place, we look forward to seeing you again soon. And if you’ve never been here before, we hope to have the chance to serve you in the near future. There’s nothing we enjoy more than sharing all of the things we think are so special about The Women’s Place.

Sincerely,
Eileen Overfelt, R.N., B.S.N.
Coordinator of Women’s Services
