Family Birthplace Tour

The Family Birthplace staff is delighted to help you welcome your new baby to the world. As part of our commitment to providing the highest quality care, we offer a virtual tour of our comfortable, state-of-the-art facilities below.

We know the birthing experience can be an exciting, but also anxious, time. We hope this glimpse of the labor and delivery process at The Family Birthplace helps you feel confident in the care we are committed to providing you and the newest member of your family.

Front Desk
Specialized maternity staff is available around the clock every day to help you throughout the labor and delivery process. When you arrive at the Family Birthplace, you can expect a warm greeting from our reception staff, who also will assist your family and friends as they join you to share in this special experience.

Triage
Before admission to The Family Birthplace, you may be taken to triage for an initial assessment of your labor process. The results of this assessment, performed by a member of our nursing staff and your obstetrician (or a staff obstetrician) determine if you will be officially admitted to The Family Birthplace and sent directly to one of our maternity suites, or if you will be discharged home until your labor is further along.

Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) Suites
Patients have sung the praises of our LDRP suites for their beauty and comfort, as well as their sophisticated equipment. Each private, spacious suite provides a comfortable, state-of-the-art birthing bed for you, overnight accommodations for your birth partner, private bathroom, built-in television featuring our OB Education Channel and a large picture window that fills the room with sunlight while creating a warm, cheerful atmosphere. After you are admitted to your suite, you will remain in the same room until your departure. Although the LDRP suites look and feel much like a hotel suite, you’ll find all of the necessary medical equipment close at hand, tastefully concealed behind artwork and custom cabinetry. In addition, a bassinet is provided in your suite so your infant may remain with you as much as you wish. A pediatrician will perform physical examinations of your new baby right in your room so you can observe and ask questions.

Special Care Nursery
Most deliveries go smoothly but, in certain circumstances, the need may arise when your baby needs more advanced medical attention. In cases of premature, high-risk or multiple-birth babies, you can count on Carroll Hospital Center’s Level II Special Care Nursery to provide the specialized care needed to give its young patients the healthiest possible start to life. The nursery is equipped with the latest monitoring technology and staffed around the clock by a board-certified attending physician and specially trained nurses.

Waiting Area
Our beautiful waiting area offers family and friends a warm, relaxing environment to gather in anticipation of your newest arrival. Complete with comfortable chairs, a television, vending area and private restrooms, the waiting area even includes a special kids corner which features books, a small table and chairs, puzzles and a separate TV/VCR to occupy the young visitors in your family.
