Carroll Hospital Center Foundation donates $825,000 to support services at Carroll Hospital Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Westminster, Md. – (December 23, 2008) — The Carroll Hospital Center Foundation donated $825,000 to Carroll Hospital Center to support the wide range of programs and services the hospital provides, during the Foundation’s last board meeting of the year on December 17.
Jack Tevis, chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees presented the check to John Sernulka, president and CEO of Carroll Hospital Center.
The Foundation’s donation to the hospital will be used as follows:
• A total of $160,000 will go towards the recent expansion and renovation of the hospital’s operating rooms
• Close to $160,000 will fund oncology services at the hospital
• A total of $315,000 will be used to support the hospital’s expanded cardiac services
• More than $35,000 will fund services at The Women’s Place
• Another $27,000 will go towards the hospital’s Sexual Assault Forensic Exam (S.A.F.E.) program
• A total of $35,000 will be used for Carroll Hospice’s inpatient facility
Other funds will be allocated to further smoking education programs at the hospital, pastoral care services, the ML Myers Addiction Program and an unrestricted fund to be used for services as needed.
Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
