Westminster, Md. – (December 10, 2008) — Shawn Curry, emergency care technician, was recently selected as Carroll Hospital Center’s December Associate of the Month. A member of Carroll Hospital Center since 2006, Curry was nominated for his compassion and willingness to work beyond his regular duties to assist a developmentally-challenged patient in the hospital’s emergency department.

“Shawn’s compassion for this patient is to be commended. After working the night shift Shawn could have simply gone home but instead he acted above and beyond his role to stay well beyond his shift to help someone in need,” Norma Austin, R.N., clinical manager of the emergency department, said.

Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary achievements of members of the Carroll Hospital Center staff with a program called Associate WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive Associate WOW Service Awards each month, one Associate of the Month is chosen. And, from a year’s worth of Associate of the Month winners, one Associate of the Year is selected.

Community members and hospital staff members are encouraged to nominate a hospital staff member who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to his/her job in a variety of ways.
