FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (September 25, 2009) — Carroll Hospital Center will host a site visit and luncheon for members of the Health and Government Operations (HGO) Committee on Wednesday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Women’s Place at the hospital.

The HGO committee is a standing committee of the Maryland House of Delegates that considers legislative action on a variety of health areas including public health and health facilities, as well as State government organization and administrative law.

Delegate Peter Hammen (D), chairperson of the HGO committee, requested the visit to learn more about some programs unique to Carroll County. This will be the committee’s first ever meeting of this kind in the community.

The visit will kick off with a presentation on The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County Inc.’s leadership role in addressing health improvement areas in collaboration with the community.  Guests will then board a C.A.T.S. bus for an onsite visit to Access Carroll Inc. and Mission of Mercy. Access Carroll Inc., is a volunteer-staffed free clinic for low-income and uninsured residents, while Mission of Mercy, is a faith-based volunteer effort to provide medical and dental health care to all.

Attendees will then return to the hospital for an overview of the Best Beginnings program which is designed to address the prenatal care needs of eligible low income, uninsured pregnant women who live in our community.

Lunch will be served at 12:45 p.m. and guests will be joined by members of Carroll Hospital Center’s Board of Directors, The Partnership’s Board of Directors and Access Carroll’s Board of Directors, as well as the hospital’s most senior management team. Ample opportunity for networking and discussion will be provided for attendees.

Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
