The Bair brothers revealed the wall, which names the Scott and Anita Bair Intermediate Care Unit, located at the entrance to the second floor of the South tower at the hospital. It features a display with a portrait of the couple from 1953 along with an excerpt from a newspaper clipping of Scott Bair when he chaired the hospital’s first capital campaign to raise funds for the facility.

John Sernulka, Carroll Hospital Center president and CEO, Jack Tevis, chair of the Carroll Hospital Center Foundation’s Board of Trustees, and Ellen Finnerty Myers, C.F.R.E., vice president of development at Carroll Hospital Center, attended the unveiling. 

The late Scott Bair was one of Carroll Hospital Center’s founding fathers whose leadership and generosity was instrumental in the creation of the hospital in 1961. The Bair brothers have continued their parents’ legacy of giving to the hospital and their gifts have made a significant impact on the hospital’s ability to enhance many important programs and services. 

“I’m very glad we have the resources to give to the hospital. It benefits the whole community because many people from in and outside [Carroll County] come here for treatment,” said Harvey Bair.

“My father always encouraged us to be civic minded and support the community,” added Glenn Bair. “This hospital plays a vital role in the community, giving residents the opportunity to receive treatment closer to home rather than somewhere else.”

Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering the latest in medical technology, experienced medical professionals in a variety of specialties and a continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of the community.
