Westminster, Md. – (September 11, 2009) — John A. Steers, M.D., general surgery, was recently selected as Carroll Hospital Center’s September Physician of the Month. A physician affiliated with Carroll Hospital Center for 15 years, Dr. Steers was nominated by staff members for his quick response and willingness to lend his expertise to assist in patient care. 

“Dr. Steers is a highly respected physician whose compassion, expertise and commitment to patient care is to be commended,” Kevin Smothers, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs, said.

Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary patient care achievements of physicians, as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified nurse anesthetists, with a program called Physician WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive Physician WOW Service Awards each month, one Physician of the Month is chosen. And, from a year’s worth of Physician of the Month winners, one Physician of the Year is selected.

Community members and hospital associates are encouraged to nominate a medical professional who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to patients in a variety of ways.
