Westminster, Md. – (July 18, 2008) — Marney Treese, M.D., emergency medicine, was recently selected as Carroll Hospital Center’s July Physician of the Month. A physician affiliated with Carroll Hospital Center for close to three years, Dr. Treese was nominated for her willingness to lend her expertise during an emergency situation in the hospital’s maternity suite and for her quick diagnoses of a patient’s severe heart condition which lead to him receiving life-saving treatment.

“Dr. Treese is an outstanding physician who is dedicated to her profession, her medical staff team and the care of her patients,” Kevin Smothers, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs, said.

Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary patient care achievements of physicians, as well as physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified nurse anesthetists, with a program called Physician WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive Physician WOW Service Awards each month, one Physician of the Month is chosen. And, from a year’s worth of Physician of the Month winners, one Physician of the Year is selected.

Community members and hospital associates are encouraged to nominate a medical professional who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to patients in a variety of ways.
