FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Westminster, Md. – (December 24, 2007) — More than 550 guests dined and danced the night away at long-standing Carroll County social event — the 48th Annual Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary Silvery Moon Ball, “007 A Night of Intrigue” — held November 3 at Martin's Westminster. The event was chaired by Teresa Asher of Asher Companies and supported by a 30-member committee. The largest of the Auxiliary's fundraising events, the Ball again raised a record-breaking $105,000. The proceeds support the expansion of the Special Care Nursery in The Family Birthplace at Carroll Hospital Center.
Over 100 items were sold by silent auction organized and chaired by Vicky Campbell Green. Live auction items included a Hall of Fame jersey signed by Cal Ripken, Jr., a diamond pendant necklace from Shipley’s Fine Jewelry, a sitting and portrait by Elisabeth Radomsky, a Charles Krypell citrine and diamond necklace from David’s Jewelers, and the “mystery attaché.” This unknown item drew a high bid of $4,000 before its contents were revealed to be a James Bond-style adventure, gift cards, a digital camera and much more. Charles Ecker, superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, served as auctioneer.
“The support from the community has been phenomenal. We are so grateful for the sponsors, donors and guests who have become champions of this year’s project of expanding the Special Care Nursery at the hospital,” Vicky Campbell Green, president of the Auxiliary, said
