Westminster, Md. (November 19, 2007) — Carroll Hospice will sponsor two events this holiday season. A Community Memory Tree will be on display at the Carroll Hospice Dove House located at 292 Stoner Avenue in Westminster. Also, a tree lighting ceremony, featuring trees decorated and donated by community members, will be held Monday, December 3 at 7:30 p.m., to begin Hospice’s First Annual Festival of Trees.

The Festival of Trees and Community Memory Tree will be on display during the month of December on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.  Decorated trees will be available for silent auction. Bids will close Saturday, December 22 at 4:30 p.m. and winners will be notified Sunday, December 23.

Carroll Hospice would like to give members of the community a unique and personal way to memorialize a lost loved one this holiday season. Ornaments to be placed on the Community Memory Tree cost $10 and will be personalized with a loved one’s name. Ornaments will be available for pick up beginning Wednesday, January 2, 2008 and must be picked up no later than Thursday, February 28, 2008.

Carroll Hospice, an affiliate of Carroll Hospital Center, is a non-profit organization that provides end-of-life care to the terminally ill. In 1986, Carroll Hospice cared for 53 patients. Today, they serve more than 50 patients each day, regardless of their ability to pay.
