Westminster, Md. – (October 29, 2007) — Mary Ellen Gannon, enterostomal therapist in the Wound Care Center at Carroll Hospital, was recently selected as Carroll Hospital Center’s 2007 Associate of the Year at the hospital’s annual Associate Recognition Dinner at Martin’s Westminster on October 1. A member of the Carroll Hospital Center staff for 21 years, Gannon was recognized for this high honor by her fellow co-workers for her unwavering dedication to her job, working long hours to ensure each patient receives the same exceptional care.

“The energy and passion Mary Ellen has for her job is truly inspiring,” said Leslie Simmons, R.N., B.S.N., M.A., chief operating officer and senior vice president of patient care services. “Mary Ellen exemplifies the core values of Carroll Hospital Center and is well deserving of being named by her fellow co-workers as the Associate of the Year.”

Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary achievements of members of the Carroll Hospital Center staff with a program called Associate WOW Service Awards. From those who are nominated to receive Associate WOW Service Awards each month, one Associate of the Month is chosen. And, from a year’s worth of Associate of the Month winners, one Associate of the Year is selected.

Community members and hospital staff members are encouraged to nominate a hospital staff member who has demonstrated a special dedication and devotion to his/her job in a variety of ways.
