FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. (October 30, 2006) — The Carroll Hospice Board of Directors recognized BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust), Robin Ford Building & Remodeling of Hampstead, Maryland, Susan Underwood Leahy, Interior Decorator and Kohn Creative both of Westminster, Maryland, in a special ceremony for sponsoring two key events that raised a combined total of more than $117,000 for Carroll Hospice programs and services.

BB&T received a plaque for serving as the first-ever presenting sponsor of the 2006 Taste of Carroll, held this past May at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown. The event generated over $100,000 for Carroll Hospice. Louna Primm, senior vice president of BB&T, accepted a plaque on BB&T’s behalf.

Robin Ford of Robin Ford Building & Remodeling, Inc., and his wife Shirlyn, as well as Susan Underwood Leahy, also received recognition for the recent show home tour that raised over $17,700 for Carroll Hospice. For the event, Robin Ford Building & Remodeling, Inc. constructed a 4,000-square-foot show home in Westminster based on an exclusive Southern Living House Plan. Susan Underwood Leahy designed the interior of the house and coordinated the donation of the furniture and accessories displayed in the home.  The general public was invited to tour the completed home in August for a small contribution to support Hospice.

In addition, Josh and Matt Kohn, owners of Kohn Creative advertising agency in Westminster, MD were recognized for their show home promotional efforts, which included running a special hospice show home insert in the August/September issue of their publication, Carroll Magazine. The Kohns also surprised the Board with a $4,000 check in support of Carroll Hospice.

Plaques were presented by Edward Lister, chairman of the board. “The companies and individuals honored have given generously of their time and resources to make a real difference in the lives of terminally ill community members and their families,” said Lister. “Their willingness to go above and beyond to support our programs and services is an inspiration to us all.”

An affiliate of Carroll Hospital Center, Carroll Hospice provides high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. In early 2007, Carroll Hospice will open an inpatient hospice facility, featuring beautiful, home-like accommodations for patients and families, a bereavement support center, memorial garden and remembrance chapel.
