FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (October 16, 2006) — Carroll Hospital Center will host a free informative  program on “Heart Disease in the Young Adult” on Tuesday, October 24, 2006 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. at The Learning Center. Hemalatha Naganna, M.D., cardiologist with Carroll Heart Center and Erin Peiffer, spokesperson for WomenHeart, will lead the evening’s discussion on heart disease – the number one killer of women in the U.S.

Diagnosed with congestive heart failure at the age of 39 and mother of three children, Peiffer will share her journey through coronary bypass surgery that led her to become an advocate for raising awareness of heart disease in women through WomenHeart – the nation’s only patient advocacy organization for 8 million American women currently living with heart disease. Dr. Naganna will discuss the symptoms of heart disease a young person should be aware of, along with risk factors, prevention, diagnostic testing and treatments. A question and answer period will follow the presentation.

There is no cost for the program, but registration is required. To register call Health Access at 800-871-7000 or visit www.CarrollHospitalCenter.org.

Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
