Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs Joins Carroll Hospital Center Executive Team

Westminster, Md. (November 27, 2006) — Kevin Smothers, M.D., has been appointed to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Carroll Hospital Center. A new member of the hospital’s executive team, Dr. Smothers will serve as liaison between the medical staff, clinical leadership and administrative teams, said John Sernulka, President and CEO of Carroll Hospital Center, in an announcement this fall.
Dr. Smothers previously served as the Physician Director of the Medicine Service Line at Franklin Square Hospital. He oversaw the emergency department, ICU, coronary care, critical care, cardiac step-down unit, congestive heart failure and chest pain unit, three medical units, respiratory and pulmonary services, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, neurodiagnostic services, sleep center and physician assistant services. Dr. Smothers is board-certified in internal medicine and a graduate of Stony Brook University School of Medicine.
Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
