FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. (July 25, 2006) — Melvin and Linda Mills, along with Mills’ Communications, Inc. of Westminster, donated $15,000 to the Carroll Hospital Center Foundation to kick off an effort to raise funds for the hospital’s operating room (OR) expansion and renovation project. Mr. and Mrs. Mills presented the check to Ellen Finnerty Myers, vice president of development for Carroll Hospital Center on July 17.

The operating room expansion includes the addition of four new, technologically advanced operating suites and the complete renovation of the hospital’s four existing operating rooms. A technological upgrade and expansion of the surgical facilities will allow Carroll Hospital to increase the number and the complexity of surgical procedures performed. The construction project, now underway, doubles the current square footage available for inpatient surgical procedures. New OR construction should be completed by June 2007 and OR renovations to the existing rooms should be finished by June 2008.

“We are happy to be able to contribute,” says Mr. Mills, member and past chair of the Carroll Hospital Center Foundation board of trustees. “The staff members of Carroll Hospital Center have always provided exceptional care and compassion to their patients. We are happy to help bring enhanced facilities, new technology and programs through our financial support.”

The Mills’ donation launches the Foundation’s annual fundraising drive for the OR expansion project, said Myers. “Our goal is to raise at least $1 million for the OR project. Support from the community, like this gift from the Mills, as well as the proceeds from the upcoming 2006 Carroll Golf Classic, which is expected to raise an estimated $250,000, also will go toward the cause,” she explained. The 2006 Carroll Golf Classic is set for Friday, September 15 at the Wakefield Valley Golf & Conference Center. For ticket or sponsorship information on the 2006 Carroll Golf Classic or to contribute toward the OR expansion and renovation annual fund campaign at Carroll Hospital Center, please call the Carroll Hospital Center Foundation at 410-871-6200.
