FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. (July 20, 2006) — Each year, almost 500,000 Americans die from heart attack, but you can double a person’s chances of survival by performing cardiovascular pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) immediately. Because up to 80 percent of all cardiac arrests occur in the home, you are most likely to perform (CPR) on a family member or loved one. Carroll Hospital Center has partnered with Carroll Community College and the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association to offer a FREE Family and Friends CPR course for adult community members.

This new streamlined course includes recently revised American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR training. CPR Across Carroll County will be offered FREE of charge to adult community members on Saturday, August 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. or from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the following locations: Carroll Hospital Center, 800-871-7000; Carroll Community College, 410-386-8100; Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Department, Sykesville Volunteer Fire Department and Taneytown Volunteer Fire Department, 410-848-1488, ext. 206.

To register call the number listed with each location.

Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
