Westminster, Md. (December 13, 2005) – The Krafty Kids 4-H Club of Taneytown donated 38 comfort pillows to Carroll Hospital Center on November 29. The handmade pillows will be given to medical/surgical pediatric and adult patients who have had surgery in their chest or abdomen.
Club president Bryce Groomes, 11, and club members Karlyee Davis, 8, and Emily Redmond, 8, represented the Krafty Kids, whose 12 members spent about five hours constructing the pillows. Each patient who receives a comfort pillow takes the pillow home, said Carroll Hospital Center Director of Development Sherri Hosfeld Joseph. “The pillows help to ease the pain while healing,” Joseph added.
Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
