FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Westminster, Md. (November 15, 2005) — Nearly 600 guests danced and dined the night away at the social event of the year—the 46th Annual Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary Silvery Moon Ball, “An Evening at Tiffany’s”—held November 5 at Martin's Westminster. The event was chaired by Victoria Campbell Green and supported by a 30-member committee. Typically one of the Auxiliary's top fundraisers, this year’s event drew more guests than ever before and raised a record-breaking $85,000 for Carroll Hospital Center projects. Over 200 items were sold by silent auction organized and chaired by local Westminster business owner, Missie Wilcox. Live auction items included a diamond tennis bracelet, use of a Bethany Beach, Delaware home, a sheared mink coat, four tickets on the 50-yard line to a Ravens football game and the event's first-ever “mystery box.” This unknown item drew a high bid of $3,000 before its contents were revealed to be an assortment of Tiffany and Co. jewelry, gift cards, an iPod, 3-month membership to Gold’s Gym and much more. Charles Ecker, superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, served as auctioneer. “It was spectacular to see all of the Carroll County supporters enjoying an evening out and at the same time supporting a great institution like the hospital,” said Ellen Finnerty Myers, vice president of development for Carroll Hospital Center. The Carroll Hospital Center Medical Staff was the lead sponsor for Ball. Other sponsors included Advanced Centers for Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine; Northrop Grumman; American Express Tax and Business Services; Asher Bartos Advertising, Inc.; Bank of Hanover; BB&T; Carroll County Anesthesia Associates; Carroll County Cancer Center; Center for Total Eye Care; David’s Jewelers; Devaney & Associates, Inc.; Emergency Medicine Associates; PAPC; Evapco, Inc.; Fountainhead Title Group; Greater Chesapeake Orthopaedic Associates; Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, P.A.; Hill Development Group; Mr. & Mrs. Bob Kirkner; Long & Foster Eldersburg; Martin Construction, Inc.; McDaniel College; Mid-Atlantic Cardiovascular Associates, P.A.; Mills Communication; New Dimensions in Plumbing & Excavating; New Windsor State Bank; North American Title Company; The Northrop Team; Regal Bank & Trust; Stan Ryder, Architect; John A. Steers, M.D.; Stewart Homes; Susquehanna Bank; Dr. & Mrs. Robert Wack; and Westminster Union Bank. Carroll Hospital Center, founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs. ###
