Westminster, Md. (Wednesday, December 22, 2004) — Saint Joseph’s Catholic Community Church in Sykesville, Maryland, donated more than 60 children’s gift items to the hospital’s Emergency Department yesterday. The donation of toys, stuffed animals, books and handmade cards were given by the church’s fifth grade Sunday school class, consisting of 18 children. The donation was presented to various Emergency Department clinical staff members by one of the Sunday school teachers, Diane Dekowski.
These toys will be given to children when they visit the Emergency Department over the holiday season.
“The children in our Sunday school class wanted to help other children over the holidays and thought that bringing a little joy to kids who unexpectedly had to visit the Emergency Department, was the perfect way to show they cared,” said Dekowski. “Our children also made homemade cards to add that extra-special personal touch.”
Founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
