Westminster, Md. (Thursday, December 16, 2004) — The Westminster Fraternal Order of Eagles, #4378, donated several boxes, more than 100 gift items, to Carroll Hospital Center’s Pediatric Unit and Activity Cart on Thursday, December 16. The donations ranged from toys and stuffed animals to puzzles, books and games. The donation was presented to various Carroll Hospital Center nursing administrators by several members of the Westminster Fraternal Order of Eagles, including Roy Fringer Jr.; Thomas Andrews, Eagles President; George Miller and Ralph Goodwin.
These toys will be given to children in the Pediatric Unit and Emergency Department. The puzzles, books and games will be used on the Activity Cart, which is a roaming cart taken to patient rooms by volunteers supplied with a variety of activities.
“We selected the hospital to receive our donation because we wanted to help people in our own community, neighbors helping neighbors,” said Thomas Andrew, Eagles President.
The Westminster Fraternal Order of Eagles is comprised of more than 400 members, both men and women. Each year they select a local organization to receive their donation, which always follows the Eagles mission of “People Helping People.”
Founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
