FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Westminster, Md. – Going to the hospital is not usually something grown-ups look forward to. So imagine how kids must feel – anxious, frightened, worried. The Westminster chapter of the Fraternal Order of Eagles recently helped make the hospital experience more comfortable for children at Carroll Hospital Center by donating a new television with a videotape and DVD player to the hospital’s pediatric unit. In addition to the TV, the Eagles also donated several movies for kids to watch including, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Cinderella,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Rocky & Bullwinkle & Friends,” “Durango Kids,” and “The Mummy.” Three members of the Eagles’ Westminster chapter, Thomas Andrews, Ralph Goodwin and Roy Fringer Jr. visited Carroll Hospital Center to present the generous gift. Established in Seattle in 1898, the Fraternal Order of Eagles is recognized nationally and internationally for their humanitarian, charitable and community service. Each year, the Eagles raise funds to help combat diseases like cancer and diabetes, and support children and older adults in need. Today, more than one million members attend 1,800 lodges in the United States and Canada. Founded in 1961 as Carroll County General Hospital, Carroll Hospital Center is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
