Carroll Hospital Center Medical Staff elects officers

Westminster, Md. – The medical staff of Carroll Hospital Center has elected its officers for 2004-2005. Flavio Kruter, M.D., medical oncologist, is the new president of the medical staff and he succeeds Khalil Freiji, M.D., who served in that role the past two years.
Kruter has been a member of the hospital’s medical staff since 1993 and is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology (cancer), with specialized training in hematology (blood disease). He is presently medical director of the Carroll County Cancer Center and Carroll Hospice.
Kruter completed a dual fellowship in oncology and hematology at George Washington University and University of Maryland.
Duleep Pradhan, M.D., vascular surgeon, will serve as vice president of the medical staff. A member of the medical staff since 1986, Pradhan is board-certified in general and thoracic surgery and completed a residency in general surgery and thoracic/cardiovascular surgery at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y., respectively.
Jed Rosen, M.D., was re-elected to his ninth term as secretary/treasurer. He joined the medical staff in 1992 and is division chief of head and neck surgery. Rosen is board-certified in otolaryngology (diseases and disorders of the ears, nose and throat) and completed his residency in otolaryngology and internship in general surgery at University of Maryland.
Samuel Matz, M.D., orthopaedic surgeon, and Mokhtar Nasir, M.D., nephrologist, will serve as members-at-large. Matz is chief of the division of orthopaedic surgery and former president of the medical staff. He completed both an internship in general surgery and residency in orthopaedic surgery at University of Maryland. He also completed a fellowship in knee and sports medicine at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine.
Nasir is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology (kidney disease) and became a member of the medical staff in 1995. He completed a residency and internship in internal medicine at St. Agnes HealthCare in Baltimore and fellowship trained in nephrology at the State University of New York at Brooklyn and Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
