Wednesday, September 17, 2003
 Westminster, Md. –
The 13th annual Carroll County Golf Classic that was scheduled to occur Friday, September 19, has been postponed due to the impending weather from hurricane Isabel. The tournament has been rescheduled for Friday, September 26 at Wakefield Valley Golf & Conference Center.
Players and teams who registered for the tournament were notified of the new date.
Aside from the date change, other details of the tournament will remain the same, with registration beginning at 10a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. The full day of golf and fun also features lunch and refreshments, contests and dinner and awards ceremony. Special guest Lt. Gov. Michael Steele will join the playing field and speak at the dinner.
The proceeds from this year’s tournament will go toward Carroll County General Hospital’s “Fulfilling the Promise” campaign, a fundraising effort aimed at raising private dollars for the hospital’s $80 million expansion project.
Due to the generosity of the event’s supporters, the Golf Classic has grown into a premier event since its inception in 1991, raising more than $1 million to benefit the hospital. Last year, the tournament raised more than $160,000.
