Carroll Count General Hospital names 2003 Employee of the Year

Melissa Delbusso, social worker, was selected as the 2003 Employee of the Year for Carroll County General Hospital . She received the award at a special dinner honoring hospital employees for their milestone years of service. The annual event was held Sept. 29 at Martin’s Westminster.
Delbusso, who has been at Carroll County General for two years, was recognized for her tireless work ethic, friendly manner and genuine concern for patient and family needs. She was selected from a group of employees chosen for the honor of Employee of the Month during the year. One of those 12 recipients who consistently goes above and beyond their daily tasks and demonstrates the hospital’s values, teamwork and a positive attitude is then honored as the employee of the year.
“It’s a great honor to be chosen from among the many employees who are deserving of this recognition,” Delbusso said. “I am thankful to be honored and wish to share this award with everyone that I am fortunate enough to work with every day.”
A licensed certified social worker, Delbusso received her bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh. She lives in Sykesville with her husband, Marc.
In all, 178 employees were honored during the dinner. The hospital honored 74 employees for five years of service, 41 employees for 10 years, 29 employees for 15 years, 18 employees for 20 years and 11 employees for 25 years. Three employees, Doug Crowl, Cynthia Mills and Josie Tipton were honored for 30 years of service, while Elizabeth Prise, R.N., and Patricia Scott were recognized for 35 years. Fourteen employees from Carroll Home and Carroll Hospice, affiliates of Carroll County General Hospital , also were honored.
Founded in 1961, Carroll County General Hospital is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
