Dear Associates, Volunteers, and Medical Staff:
Wednesday, September 04, 2002
The events of the past year have forever altered our society and community. Each day since the attacks on Sept. 11, we have remembered the victims who lost their lives and honored the heroes who worked to save them. We continue to mourn with the families and friends who were affected by this tragedy.
Yet, every American flag flown honors and memorializes those lost and symbolizes the renewed strength of our nation. In these uncertain times, we remain united and support our country.
Throughout the U.S. and the world, communities large and small will be holding observances for the first anniversary of Sept. 11. Carroll County General Hospital will be among those paying tribute to the thousands of lives lost.

On Sept. 11, we ask that Associates wear red, white and blue. At noon, a moment of silence will take place, prompted by the overhead operator, to remember the victims and fallen heroes. Chaplain Judy will offer words of comfort and hope during memorial gatherings in the back of the cafeteria at 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
I am proud to say that as a public service organization, we are better prepared today to handle a massive emergency event. We have formed a bioterrorism committee and worked closely with other community agencies to assure we have a rapid response plan in place. Because of these efforts, we are a safer hospital today and for this we want to celebrate. So, in addition to our activities commemorating Sept. 11, we also will recognize our renewed strength by offering a patriotic cake during each meal in the cafeteria.
I hope you will join us in this day of remembrance and show your support for our nation. And thank you for your dedicated service and continued SPIRIT on behalf of Carroll County General Hospital .

President and CEO
