 Westminster, Md. –
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Carroll Collectors Club donated $7,500 from a bingo dinner to The Breast Center at Carroll County General Hospital. The bingo dinner was held Oct. 13 at Gamber Fire Company.
It was the second year in a row that the Collectors Club held a bingo dinner in support of breast cancer services at Carroll County General. Last year, the event raised $3,400.
“We started as a small local group but as we’ve grown, we wanted to do something more by supporting an organization in the community,” said Herb Marques, president of the Carroll Collectors Club. “The success of the bingo dinner over the past two years has been the work of many and the event keeps getting bigger.”
The Carroll Collectors Club was established in 1996 and is sponsored by Carrolltowne Cards and Gifts. Each of the more than 20 members collects something different, from ornaments, dolls and teddy bears to model race cars and Santa Claus figurines.
The Breast Center at Carroll County General Hospital provides comprehensive services to women before and after the diagnosis of breast cancer. A clinical coordinator is available to offer guidance and referrals to resources in the community for women diagnosed with breast cancer or who have had an abnormal mammogram and require additional testing. Cancer care is integrated with the Carroll County Cancer Center and surgical consultations are available within 24 hours of a physician referral.
The Center’s multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses are committed to and specialized in cancer care and works together to ensure that the best possible care is provided during and after treatment. The Breast Center also offers a wide range of other services, such as support groups, educational classes and complementary health therapies (massage, acupuncture, reiki, zero balancing) to help meet the individual needs of women facing cancer.
Founded in 1961, Carroll County General Hospital is a nonprofit, acute care facility offering a continuum of services, including comprehensive inpatient, outpatient and community programs.
