| Carroll Hospital Center provides around-the-clock anesthesia care by a team of anesthesia specialists including physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA). This team of specialists manages the anesthesia needs for our surgical patients as well as all anesthesia needs arising with our obstetrical patients, through their labor and delivery.
Our anesthesia team specializes in administering both general and local anesthesia to patients, to create insensitivity to pain during surgical, dental, diagnostic and other therapeutic procedures. When using a general anesthesia, a patient will lose consciousness during the procedure, while local anesthesia allows the anesthesia specialist the ability to "freeze" a section of nerves for the duration of the procedure. With local anesthesia, a patient may be conscious during the procedure.
In addition to managing the anesthesia care for all of our patients during procedures, many of these specialists are trained to handle many types of acute and chronic pain. Additionally, Carroll Hospital Center has an Advanced Pain Management Center, with a unique, specially trained group of medical professionals, available to help our community members on an outpatient basis get control of their chronic, sometimes debilitating pain. |
