Have you been to Carroll Hospital Center's Farmers Market?
Started in 2011 by the hospital’s Green Team, the market features fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, freshly baked goods, freshly cut flowers, homemade dog treats and more!
Our farmers market takes place on Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. It is located on the third floor of the parking garage across from the main entrance of the hospital. All are welcome – just look for the signs!
The last farmers market of the 2013 season will be Thursday, November 7, so stop by and enjoy the fresh local offerings from our vendors!
Try this recipe with some fresh farmers market zucchini:
Poor Man's Crab Cakes
2 cups grated zucchini (peeled and seeded)
2 tsp finely chopped onion
1 cup Italian bread crumbs
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 T mayonnaise
1 tsp of Old Bay seasoning (or more to suit your taste)
Grate zucchini, then spread on paper towels and press to drain (let sit 15-20 minutes). Combine bread crumbs with Old Bay; add rest of ingredients and mix well. Form into patties, chill for 30 minutes. Brown in sauce pan using butter or substitute (Optional: coat with flour or bread crumbs before browning). Makes 4 crab cakes.
