FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. (December 7, 2012) — Carroll Regional Cancer Center received a donation of 50 Believe Mugs on December 4 from Believe Big, a nonprofit organization that provides resources and support to cancer patients.

Believe Big cofounder Ivelisse Page presented the mugs to Carroll Regional Cancer Center staff members during a special visit to the center.

The beautifully decorated mugs were hand painted by students and adults within the community. They were individually designed with the word “Believe” written on them and packaged with words of encouragement and strength inside.

Founded in 2011, Believe Big was created to help families navigate their own cancer journey and find the tools and resource they need to advocate for their own health. According to Page, Believe Mugs are one of the ways the organization tries to bring spiritual and emotional support to cancer patients.

“We want [these mugs] to be a source of encouragement every day, so that when the patient is using them they remember that nothing is impossible, to believe that they can be healed,” Page said.

This is the first donation of Believe Mugs to the Carroll Regional Cancer Center and Page says they hope to make more in the future.

“We are deeply touched by this donation,” Karen Alban, R.N., B.S.N., clinical manager of Carroll Regional Cancer Center, said. “We think the mugs will be a great source of comfort to our patients by letting them know that the community is behind them.”

The Cancer Center will include the Believe Mugs in special comfort packages that are created for and distributed to new patients.
