Sohaila Ali, M.D., elected as president of Carroll Hospital Center’s medical staff

Westminster, Md. – (July 31, 2014) — Sohaila Ali, M.D., has been elected by her peers to serve as president of Carroll Hospital Center’s medical staff. As medical staff president, she is serving as an ex-officio member of the hospital’s Board of Directors.
A vascular and cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Ali has been affiliated with Carroll Hospital Center for 18 years. She has been active on hospital boards and committees and is the current chairwoman of the Medical Executive Committee. In previous years, she has served on the Board of Directors’ Finance & Treasury Committee and as the chairwoman of the Institutional Review Board.
Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Ali earned her medical degree at Khyber Medical College, affiliated with University of Peshawar in Pakistan. She completed her residency at Maryland General Hospital in general surgery and at the University of Maryland Medical Center in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery.
In addition to the office of president, the following physicians were elected to serve in leadership positions: Binu Chacko, M.D., vice president; Kiyoung (Steve) Kim, D.O., secretary/treasurer; Hemalatha Naganna, M.D., member-at-large; and David Silber, M.D., member-at-large.
