FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Westminster, Md. – (February 21, 2014) — Laurie Walters was selected as Carroll Hospital Center’s February Volunteer of the Month. A volunteer at Carroll Hospital Center since 2013, Walters was chosen for her outstanding work with the hospital’s Pet Therapy Program.
As a volunteer in the Pet Therapy Program, Laurie brings her 2-year-old English springer spaniel, Puck, to visit with people in the hospital’s main lobby and Emergency Department lobby each week.
“When Laurie brings Puck to the hospital, Puck’s interaction with visitors, patients’ family members and staff is a sight to see, with the human-animal connection being a rewarding benefit to both,”
Mary Richards, director of volunteer services at Carroll Hospital Center, said. “We truly appreciate Laurie’s help with this program and her service to the hospital.”
Each month, Carroll Hospital Center recognizes the extraordinary achievements of its volunteers. They are chosen based on length of service, hours of service or exemplary performance. Community members are encouraged to volunteer their time and skills to assist in Carroll Hospital Center’s important functions. For more information on how to volunteer, contact Volunteer Services at 410 871-7280.
