Westminster, Md. – (October 18, 2013) — More than $5,000 was raised to benefit the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center during the Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary’s Charity Day held at O’Lordans Irish Pub on September 12.
Hundreds of community members attended the event to show their support for the hospital. For every meal that was purchased, O’Lordans donated 10 percent of the sales to the Auxiliary to benefit the new cancer center.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed delicious food and drinks, participated in a free drawing for a mystery prize and entered a 50/50 cash raffle. During the evening, guest bartenders entertained attendees by competing in a tip contest for the “Best Bartender” title. Gavin Bullock, owner of Westminster Lawn Service, Inc., won the competition for generating the highest amount of tips which were then donated to the cancer center.
The Auxiliary has held several Charity Days at local restaurants leading up to the Postcards from Paris Gala taking place on Saturday, November 2 at Martin’s Westminster. In July, $6,700 was raised during the Auxiliary’s Charity Day held at Maggie’s Restaurant in Westminster and in August, $1,000 was raised at Rafael’s on Main Street in Westminster.
“The outpouring of support from the local restaurants and community members has been terrific,” said Tina Warehime, chair of the Gala Charity Nights Committee and owner of Esquire & the Lady Salon. “We are so grateful for their generosity.”
