Westminster, Md. – (May 17, 2013) — Critical Care Unit registered nurse Deb Kidd was named Carroll Hospital Center’s 2013 Nurse of the Year during the hospital’s annual Best of the Best Awards Banquet held on May 8 at St. John’s Portico in Westminster.
A nurse at Carroll Hospital Center for 30 years, Kidd was chosen for her exceptional clinical and team work skills, resourcefulness and dedication to patient care. In the CCU, Kidd is a role, leader and mentor to her fellow nurses. She is consistently willing to assist her nursing team, often working beyond her normal shift hours to facilitate the best patient care.
In addition to her regular nursing duties, Deb’s expertise and exceptional patient care shines through in her work in other areas of the hospital. This includes her work as a member of the hospital’s critical outreach team during emergency situations; on the stroke collaborative, helping to develop the hospital’s stroke program; and on the CCU’s best practice committee, implementing ways to further improve how nurses provide care.
“Deb is willing to help absolutely anybody. She is meticulous and never misses a detail about a patient,” said Leanne Bonds, R.N., CCU clinical manager.
“Deb is an extraordinary nurse,” added Stephanie Reid, R.N., B.S.N., M.B.A., vice president of quality and chief nursing officer. “Her clinical expertise, compassion and dedication to patient care exemplifies our SPIRIT values and makes her highly deserving of this award.”
