Thank You, John Sernulka

For 26 years, John Sernulka has been the driving force behind Carroll Hospital Center’s growth and success. He has also been a great mentor to many throughout the years, myself included.

John is a forward thinker who came to Carroll Hospital Center determined to make it more than a facility that provided just basic services. He wanted the hospital to be a top-notch organization, with the staff, equipment and capacity to provide high quality specialty care, and he succeeded, transforming our small community hospital into an award-winning, state-of-the-art medical campus.

It’s not uncommon to see John in the halls, greeting staff and visitors alike with a hearty hello and a smile, and that type of culture is one of the legacies John is leaving with us. Under his leadership, the hospital’s SPIRIT values were created, guiding our employees’ actions and decisions to provide exceptional care and service.

From the first day of employment, our staff is taught our SPIRIT values (an acronym for Service, Performance, Innovation, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork), and the emphasis our organization places on these values. Through John’s leadership and set by his example, our culture is one of accountability and transparency, of excellence and ethics, which allows our employees to excel and our patients to receive the best quality care.

Thank you, John, for your 26 years of dedicated service to Carroll Hospital Center. You have helped to transform health care in the Carroll County community for generations to come.

Mr John, thank you so much for all that you have done for the hospital and the community. As a volunteer at the information desk in the front lobby, I have experienced your friendliness and kindness not only to us, but to guests and patients as well. It's pretty amazing to see the CEO of the hospital helping someone to walk down the hall. I will miss seeing your smiling face, but wish you the best!
