Get Heart Smart

Did you know heart disease continues to be the number one cause of death for men and women in Carroll County and in the United States?

Heart Health Month is only a few short days away. This February, we encourage you to learn about heart disease and the changes you can make to decrease your risk of developing heart disease.

Many heart disease risk factors include lifestyle choices. Measures that can be taken to lower your risk include stopping smoking; keeping your blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol under control; exercising most days of the week; and eating a heart healthy diet. Other risk factors include a family history of heart disease.

Carroll Hospital Center is pleased to host a number of Heart Health Month events focused on heart disease and healthy living, including a Zumba® Heart Party on February 11 at the Y of Central Maryland Hill Family Center, presentations about heart disease, blood pressure screenings and more! Find a full list of events on our website or call Care Connect at 410-871-7000 to learn more.

And don’t forget to wear red on Friday, February 7 in honor of National Wear Red Day and in support of ending heart disease for women.

Take the time in February to get heart smart!
