Vision 2020: Cardiovascular and Stroke Services
0

This blog post is one in a series about Vision 2020, our hospital’s vision of how we will continue to deliver superior care in the next five to seven years.

Heart disease is one of the top five health issues affecting Carroll County residents. It’s the number one cause of death for men and women in our county – and in the United States.

In Vision 2020, we plan on combatting heart disease through new cardiovascular and stroke services.

Five years ago, we implemented emergency angioplasty services at the hospital to ensure that our community received quick care when facing a heart attack, and more than 400 people have received intervention since our services began. We are required by state law to have a door-to-balloon time of 90 minutes or less, timing when the patient first enters the hospital to when he or she has the balloon catheter in the artery. We currently have an average time of 68 minutes!

With Vision 2020, we want to expand our cardiovascular capabilities to include elective angioplasty as another way to provide the quality care residents need right here in their community.

We’ll also expand vascular treatments to detect and treat life-threatening conditions that folks might not even know they have.

And we will continue to develop a comprehensive stroke program that allows for quick diagnosis and treatment.

As we look toward the future of health care, we are excited at the ways we will grow and develop our services to become your most trusted health care provider in the community.
