Congratulations to Lisa Freeman, R.N., and Sylvia Gorman for being named October’s DAISY Award winner and Volunteer of the Month!
Started by the DAISY Foundation, the DAISY Award honors a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse for his or her extraordinary efforts in delivering exceptional patient care.
Lisa Freeman, R.N., was nominated by a patient for the exceptional care she provided to her at the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. According to the patient, Lisa was kind and compassionate as the patient discussed the major issues she was having with her uncomfortable new wheelchair. Lisa went above and beyond her normal duties to assist the patient in any way she could, and found foam to pad the wheelchair’s leg rests to prevent the patient from experiencing any further injuries to her limbs.
Sylvia Gorman, a volunteer at the hospital for close to three years, was chosen as the October Volunteer of the Month for her hard work and creativity while working in The White Rabbit Thrift Shop. At the shop, Sylvia creates silk flower arrangements and decorative items for the store and assists in organizing the many jewelry items that are donated to the shop. A talented crafter, Gorman also has created new jewelry to sell by painting mini corks and making them into clever wine-enthusiast earrings.
Thank you, Lisa and Sylvia, for your exceptional service to our organization!
