The first week of October is always a special week at Carroll Hospital Center. Every year during this time, we have a celebration called SPIRIT Week, which celebrates the anniversary of the hospital’s opening.
We call it SPIRIT Week because of our hospital’s SPIRIT Values (Service, Performance, Innovation, Respect, Integrity and Teamwork).
On Monday evening we hosted our annual Associate Recognition dinner, where we honor our employees who have worked milestone years of service, retirees and our Associates of the Month. This year, we celebrated those with milestone anniversaries ranging from 5 years to 40 years.
We also announced our Associate of the Year, selected from our 12 Associates of the Month. It was a difficult decision, as all of our contenders’ actions were commendable.
Alexandra Onesty, support services technician, was chosen as our 2013 Associate of the Year for her outstanding performance during a Joint Commission survey of the hospital. Congratulations, Alexandra!
The Carroll Hospital Center Foundation had employees, volunteers and medical staff members testing their “Operation” skills on a large replica of the famous board game in the lobby of the hospital. If the “surgeon” touched the side of the board while trying to remove a body part, a loud buzzer sounded and his or her turn was over. We had a few “surgeons” who were able to remove the body parts in less than a minute … now that’s skill!
To round out the week, we hosted our annual Deck Party, offering all of our employees, volunteers and medical staff a free meal in the Overlook Café, comprised this year of comfort food favorites.
Here’s to another great week – and year – at Carroll Hospital Center!
